Responsible for cage sanitation, physical plant maintenance, safe operation of sanitation equipment, observation and reporting of abnormal conditions in cage-wash facility, and supervised assistance in animal husbandry procedures. This position is considered an essential service requiring weekend and holiday work hours, and involves daily exposure to laboratory animals and their waste products. Essential service staff are required to maintain basic university operations during scheduled and unscheduled work closures due to emergencies, events or other situations (including inclement weather, natural or man-made disasters, pandemics, etc.).
Monitor daily sterilization activities of the Brooklyn office, within guidelines, including the sterilization of instrument cassettes, bur blocks, endofile boxes and handpieces. Examine clinical hand pieces to ensure they are properly maintained after each use (purging and lubrication of each unit) and ensure compliance with all workflow and infection control policies and procedures. Periodically inspect quality of instrument cassettes and report any deficiencies to the Director.
