The Center for Academic Excellence and Support in the School of Professional Studies seeks an individual to serve as a Technology Lead. The Technology Lead (TL) has primary ownership of the Nexus technology infrastructure and is responsible for the implementation, management, and/or development of internal Nexus tools, applications, and systems to support learning and teaching at the New York University School of Professional Studies (SPS). The TL engages in work to enhance the NYU SPS Learning Ecosystem across the following areas: Learner-Centric Course Architecture; Goal-Driven Technology Adoption; Incubation of Faculty Labs and Initiatives; Learning Data and Research; and Design Sessions and Solutions Events for Internal and External Clients. As the lead technologist and head engineer, the TL supervises a team of developers to maintain and optimize the Nexus technology infrastructure that supports daily operations, ongoing service commitments, and new learning/teaching initiatives. The TL also serves as the primary liaison with NYU Central Information Technology and the SPS Office of Information and Technology (OIT) on instructional technologies. In this role, the TL leverages technology to create community adoption plans and patron support models to guide educationally-grounded utilization of official NYU-supported software. As the creative technologist in-chief, the TL also identifies and evaluates emerging technologies, conducts cost-benefit analyses, determines potential return on investment, and works with Nexus colleagues to architect, launch, and manage technologies to advance learning and teaching innovations. The TL works closely with the Director of Research and Development (DRD), the Director of Operations and Learning (DOL), and the Learning Experience Lead to use research-informed approaches to continuously enhance the Nexus technology infrastructure. The TL is an effective collaborator who applies best practices in product development to deliver inclusive, accessible, scalable technology-based solutions for the community.

The Learning Experience Lead (LEL) has primary stewardship of the Nexus portfolio of resources that support the design and development of formal and informal educational opportunities at the New York University School of Professional Studies (SPS). The LEL engages in work to enhance the NYU SPS Learning Ecosystem across the following areas: Learner-Centric Course Architecture; Goal-Driven Technology Adoption; Incubation of Faculty Labs and Initiatives; Learning Data and Research; and Design Sessions and Solutions Events for Internal and External Clients. As the head developer of inclusive, active, student-centered learning experiences, the LEL aligns all team activities and projects around the creation of multi-modal materials and interactive workshops to facilitate faculty empowerment. The LEL supervises a team of learning experience architects to develop exemplar course sites, model lesson plans, authentic assessment strategies, and sample course materials (e.g., case studies, presentations) to demonstrate the effective application of human-centered design principles, learning science, and technology-enhanced education. The LEL also utilizes research on human cognition, educational psychology, anti-oppressive education, adaptive learning, and AI-enhanced/machine learning tools (e.g., pedagogical agents) to design experimental pedagogical models and learning experiences. The LEL works closely with the Service Design Lead (SDL), the Director of Operations and Learning (DOL), and the Director of Research and Development (DRD) to evaluate and evolve Nexus resources and experiences that enable SPS faculty to design course-related assets that enhance student engagement. The LEL actively contributes to a high-performance learning-focused culture through modeling and mentorship. Additionally, the LEL is an excellent communicator and collaborator who applies theory, research, and best practices in learning experience design to develop creative solutions for the SPS community.

The DRD engages in work to enhance the NYU SPS Learning Ecosystem across the following areas: Learner-Centric Course Architecture; Goal-Driven Technology Adoption; Incubation of Faculty Labs and Initiatives; Learning Data and Research; and Design Sessions and Solutions Events for Internal and External Clients. The DRD works with the Executive Director and the Director of Operations and Learning to evaluate the Nexus service model and drive continuous improvement using technology and research on learning and teaching. The DRD supervises and works with the Technology Lead and the Creative Production Lead to ensure the Nexus resource ecosystem is meeting current and emerging needs of the SPS community. The DRD plays a lead role in using data and interdisciplinary research methods to plan, deliver, and enhance Nexus resources, tools, and experiences to facilitate community learning. The DRD is also responsible for actively contributing to a high performance team-focused culture through modeling and mentorship. Additionally, the DRD is focused on creating, implementing, and revising organizational practices, systems, policies to maximize agility, effectiveness, efficiency, experimentation, innovation, and staff growth.

The SDL also works closely with the Director of Operations and Learning (DOL), the Director of Research and Development, and the Head of Learning Experience to continuously enhance Nexus support resources and service procedures, and develop creative solutions for the community. The CPL engages in work to enhance the NYU SPS Learning Ecosystem across the following areas: Learner-Centric Course Architecture; Goal-Driven Technology Adoption; Incubation of Faculty Labs and Initiatives; Learning Data and Research; and Design Sessions and Solutions Events for Internal and External Clients. As the designer-in-chief, the CPL supervises a team of designers to ensure all Nexus assets communicate our commitment to learning, teaching, and educational innovation. The CPL also oversees a range activities to ensure visual and ideological alignment across Nexus products (e.g., websites, media, guides) and services (e.g., workshops, seminars, trainings). Additionally, the CPL develops frameworks and implements processes that enable Nexus patrons to produce a range of educational materials that are coherent and clear. As an innovation enabler committed to learning, the CPL builds an environment that values collaboration, dialogue, and learner experience. The CPL works closely with the Director of Research and Development, and the Technology Lead to continuously improve user interfaces and experiences on Nexus online resources. The CPL also works closely with the Director of Operations and Learning and the Service Design Lead to create a consistent and engaging visual aesthetic for all Nexus resources and services. Additionally, the CPL is an excellent communicator who applies best design principles and practices to mentor and train junior staff members, and improve team performance.
