The New York University Tandon School of Engineering is seeking applications and nominations for the position of Associate Director of Entrepreneurship, NYC Media Lab.
Founded in 2010, NYC Media Lab is a public-private partnership dedicated to driving innovation, entrepreneurship and job growth in media and technology by facilitating collaboration between the City’s universities, its companies and entrepreneurs in New York City. Comprised of a consortium including New York City Economic Development Corporation, New York University and Columbia University as Founding Partners as well as The School of Visual Arts, The New School, CUNY, and Pratt Institute, NYC Media Lab's goals are to generate research and development, knowledge transfer, talent and startup formation related to media across all of the city’s stakeholders.
The Lab is built on corporate membership, including A+E Networks, AMC Networks, Audible, Bloomberg LP, Charter Spectrum, Hakuhodo, Havas, Hearst Corporation, NBCUniversal, Publicis Groupe, Verizon, and Viacom. Associated Press, Tenfore Holdings and Universal Music Group are members. Member companies participate in events on technology issues; connect with one another and with faculty, students, and other university resources; and direct prototyping projects on areas of interest to them. NYC Media Lab directs various entrepreneurship programs to drive emerging media technology startup formation, such as The Combine, its accelerator program for university startups.
Provide leadership and strategic direction for the Combine program at the NYC Media Lab. This position will coordinate the community of faculty, entrepreneurs and media executives and technologists that participate in the NYC Media Lab to direct a ‘spinoff engine’ focused on commercializing media technologies from universities. The program is supported by funding from the New York City Economic Development Corporation, the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment, and through the support of NYC Media Lab’s corporate membership. The Associate Director of Entrepreneurship Programs will be responsible for managing NYC Media Lab’s Combine Program. The Associate Director will plan, lead and execute a variety of meetings, events and activities that bring together entrepreneurs in the Combine program with the Lab’s diverse stakeholders ranging from senior executives at the world’s leading media companies to investors and other interested parties. There is a high degree of creative latitude as well as high attention to detail. The successful candidate will, for example, express big ideas on Medium one day and organize the logistics for a training session.
Sterilize dental instruments, operate autoclave, and perform routine maintenance on a variety of simple dental equipment (disassemble, clean, reassemble, store). Maintain charts, files, and basic documentation, and provide support to more senior healthcare personnel.
Perform a wide range of clerical, secretarial, and general office duties including those of a confidential nature. Prioritize office activities and delegate work to student and/or casual employees. Respond to inquiries displaying a comprehensive knowledge of the departmental offerings and policies. Interact with the general public and act as NYU contact/liaison. Interact with University personnel including those at the senior level regarding specific issues and problems. Customize and/or compose letters in response to requests for information. Perform general word processing duties utilizing intermediate to advanced-level functions. Modify and/or create databases and complex spreadsheets for the Development and Alumni Relations team.
Involved in administrative and general assistance type office work for the Executive Director of Development and Strategic Partnerships, as their primary responsibility. Incumbent also supports the major gifts team and assists with all development team tasks. Handle complex budget work and is comfortable with data analysis in Excel. The Project Administrator will support the operation, management, evolution and security of projects in the Office of the Provost in support of the University's academic mission, as well as other smaller data related activities for the Office of the Provost. The qualified candidate will establish and maintain department-wide project plans and schedules to meet business needs and objectives.
The SPS Admissions Office is seeking an individual to supervise the admissions application processing activities and staff: plan and implement annual applications' processing schedules, including the development and implementation of a calendar of operations for each department for which services are performed that outlines enrollment-related deadlines pertaining to admissions and registration. Provide ongoing training to staff in SPS Admissions Office and the SPS academic departments on the online application process and other admissions systems. Develop, analyze and present reports on admissions and prospective and admitted students. Develop and implement office policies and procedures and recommend changes. Ensure that admissions information is updated on the website; make recommendations for changes that will benefit prospective students. Serve as the liaison between the Admissions Office and the SPS Web Communications Team, and on-line application vendor.
The Workplace Experience Manager will oversee the successful operation of NYU's University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) office on a daily basis, implementing policies and programs that ensure a best-in-class workplace experience for staff. Energetic, creative, and hyper-operational, the Workplace Experience Manager will provide high-level customer service and execution of office management responsibilities, and play a critical role in building a positive organizational culture incorporating UDAR and NYU values and priorities. The Workplace Experience Manager will help cultivate and manage our physical office environment, steward organization-wide tools and technologies that enable productivity, and proactively seek operational and administrative solutions that help our staff achieve their best. This position will also supervise and manage a front desk receptionist and associated operations, ensuring visitors, colleagues, student, alumni, and staff receive a professional welcome to UDAR's office space.
Work collaboratively as a key member of the Strategy, Planning & Engagement organization by managing activities related to communications, data analysis, and organizational effectiveness. Lead a variety of initiatives that provide data-based insights graphically and in writing to inform and/or communicate organizational decisions and perspectives impacting the organization and the NYU community. Create communications – email, documents, wikis, and presentations – to support critical communications of strategic and organizational priorities. Provide leadership for the Institutional Research Enrollment Analytics unit to provide expertise in cross-functional data and information systems to deliver actionable analysis to drive the business process of enrollment management. The Senior Director, Enrollment Analytics will develop the strategy to analyze student recruitment activity, financial aid information and enrollment data to provide custom reports outlining critical information supporting university enrollment processes. The Senior Director identifies opportunities for improvement in business strategies related to enrollment management along with providing recommendations about types of data necessary to make such improvements. The Senior Director will lead the two Data Modeling analysts in the unit and manage the data modeling, forecasts, data, research projects, and policy analysis for the division.
