Position Summary

Working with portfolios within IT spend categories, the Contract Lead is responsible for independently leading complex IT purchasing contract negotiations for the University, including determination of need, contract creation, contract execution and renewals. Acts a primary point of contact between business areas and vendors during the contracting process. Anticipates business needs and identifies opportunities for cost reduction and service level improvements with vendors. Actively participates in and leads meetings and planning with other procurement resources, the Procurement Contract Manager, the NYUIT team and NYU stakeholders. Support the IT Category team with the goal of improved customer satisfaction, achievement of greater efficiencies, reduction of risk, and realizing financial cost savings.


Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Education:
Bachelor's Degree Finance, Economics, or Supply Chain.

Required Experience:
5+ years related procurement contract management experience, including experience with procurement, contract negotiation, customer relationship management and supplier relationship management. Experience with eProcurement technologies.Solid understanding of contract terms and conditions and how to structure contracts and business terms to the mutual benefit of the purchaser and the supplier. Expertise with crafting and understanding key performance measures; and a solid understanding of the overall contract administration process.

Preferred Experience:
5+ years demonstrated responsibility and experience negotiating high value strategic long-term contracts. Experience with strategic sourcing and competitive price analysis and experience within higher-education environment.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent written and oral communications. Ability to articulate goals, strategies and direction. Organization skills and ability to meet critical deadlines. Ability to work independently and under pressure. Ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities. Deal with changing priorities, while maintaining effectiveness. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Proven Contract negotiation skills including negotiation strategy development and successful execution of strategy. Proven ability to manage multiple contractual projects at a time and source various, complex categories including but not limited to facilities, services, and information technology at a global level. Demonstrated ability to make effective business decisions, including the ability to apply logical thinking and exercise sound judgment. Excellent leadership, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
