Position Summary

Develop, coordinate, and implement programs and services for the Center for Student Life within the Division of Student Affairs to support fostering an inclusive community at NYU. As an active member of the Center for Student Life team this position will have involvement in student organization advisement, university and departmental policy oversight, program and service assessment, major programming, budget management, communication, marketing, and collaboration across the Center for Student Life and campus. Serves with other CSL staff on leading university wide events, and undertake special projects to be assigned at the discretion of the CSL Leadership Team. The Assistant Director for International Student Engagement and Graduate Student Life primarily focuses on working with and supporting International Student Engagement (for both undergraduate and graduate students) and Graduate and Non-Traditional Student Engagement. This position will work with departmental leadership to set the vision and strategy in creating community for these populations through on-boarding and orientation programs, student leadership initiatives, comprehensive services, spaces, communication, and counterpart engagement.

Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree in a related area

Preferred Education:
Master's Degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, International Education, or related area

Required Experience:
5+ years of related experience creating and administering programs and/or services to college students, including planning and implementing programs, advising and supervising staff and students.

Preferred Experience:
Relevant experience in a college student life environment working with targeted communities of students, in particular International students, Graduate and Non-Traditional students. Experience with student organizations, peer leader programs, new student orientation, or equivalent combinations. Experience with professional and graduate student supervision. Experience in the creation and supervision of student-dedicated spaces and the academic and social related services in these spaces.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Superior organizational and communication skills. Ability to work independently, in a fast pace environment, ability to self-start and take initiative. Exhibits high forms of professionalism, independent judgement, diplomacy, interpersonal skills, including the demonstrated ability to develop effective relationships and communicate with diverse populations and stakeholders. Vision: taking an idea and bringing to fruition with attention to detail. Manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously. Ability to supervise staff and students.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Working knowledge of student development theory and higher education practices. Creating and executing program and population assessments. Ability to create collaborative relationships with faculty, staff and university departments in order to create cohesive programs and services. Knowledge and understanding of English as a Second Language practices and resources, in relation, to the advancement and success of International students.
