The NYU McSilver Institute for Poverty Policy and Research is committed to creating new knowledge about the root causes of poverty, developing evidence-based interventions to address its consequences, and rapidly translating research findings into action through policy and best practices. Reporting to the Senior Director for Finance, the Assistant Director for Finance will support the NYU McSilver Institute finance team to manage the day-to-day financial needs for the institute, including current and future projections, financial reporting, payroll management, and accounts payable and receivable. They will ensure accurate accounting practices within the organization and assess the organization's financial health, identifying problem areas and developing solutions in collaboration with the Senior Director for Finance.
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
Preferred Education: Master's Degree in Business related field
Required Experience: 5+ years experience managing and reconciling budgets and maintaining budgetary spreadsheets/databases or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Experience: Experience in accounting preferred.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Ability to manage a complex workload, meet deadlines and demonstrate accuracy and strong attention to detail. Demonstrated analytical skills to collect information from diverse sources, apply professional principles in analysis and summarize findings and data for resolution. Problem solving, communication and report writing skills. Proficient in Windows-based software applications, including compiling and manipulating datasets and providing sound analyses.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge of OMB circulars and government grant policies, and GAAP.
