The Systems Architect plays a critical role in a modern enterprise application development team, being a trusted advisor to business partners, working with product owners and product designers to determine system scope, and developing scalable and sustainable solutions efficiently using the latest and best-in-class technologies and standards. This position works closely with business partners to define system scope, to determine the technical constraints the system being developed will have, and ensures that the design needs are addressed. The Systems Architect also ensures that any needed adjustments to the software design and architecture are addressed in collaboration with technical teams so that the new functionality is smoothly integrated with the existing application’s architecture. As the liaison the individual in this role facilitates excellent communication between business owners and project teams is critical for the creation of a successful operating model. This role designs holistic software solutions using microservices architecture, modern technologies, current best-practices, and emerging solutions such as machine learning and AWS environment. The Systems Architect is well versed in hands-on development to translate ideas into solutions to meet business goals. This position develops and implements high-level and low-level technical design documents, standard operating procedures and user guides to ensure that systems support the organization's business requirements and meet the needs of end-users. The Systems Architect is responsible for ensuring that all development (custom or others) meets institutional requirements for high availability, redundancy, security, and performance. The person in this role researches solutions for software, hardware, business processes, machine learning, and other emerging technologies. In addition, the Systems Architect is responsible for requirements gathering, code construction, testing and deployment and apply the same methodologies, like Agile, DevOps or Rapid Application Development.

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
5+ years Java & J2EE/JEE software development experience and 5+ years OO design and programming skills and 2+ years AWS and 3+ years Oracle DB and 3+ years Web-logic server and web service integration and 3+ years eCommerce or web content management applications and 5+ years of related experience. Experience researching technologies and creating custom software development. Experience in developing high-availability web applications. Experience developing enterprise systems in object-oriented languages. Experience leading others. Experience working in an agile development environment. Experience with software development in an architect role. Experience developing microservice software applications in an enterprise setting Strong knowledge in Java technologies and frameworks. Excellent debugging and code/performance optimization skills with knowledge of accessibility and security compliance. Good understanding and experience in Cloud platforms.
