Position Summary

Arts and Science is seeking a talented Laboratory Assistant to join the Department of Chemistry. This individual will deliver and/or distribute supplies and equipment to laboratories, following appropriate safety protocol. Set up, take down, prepare, monitor, and store supplies and equipment, as necessary. Provide assistance with maintenance of equipment and/or request repairs, as necessary. Receive, unload, unpack, inspect, and inventory supply and equipment deliveries ? including hazardous, radioactive, infectious, and other scientific materials. Reinforce and adhere to safety and safeguarding protocols and maintain cleanliness of laboratories and workspaces.


Required Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent.

Required Experience:
General knowledge of and ability to identify chemicals, and chemical compatibles. Familiarity with chemistry apparatus and tools. One year laboratory experience in an academic or industrial environment required.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Individual must be able to physically move and/or lift heavy items.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Familiarity or ability to become familiar with scientific and safety standards, and hazardous materials handling protocol through training.
