The Director, Nanofabrication Cleanroom and Shared Instrumentation Facilities reports to the Chair of the Cleanroom Faculty Advisory Committee and Senior Director of Campus Planning & Technical Services. Oversee and manage the operation & maintenance of the cleanroom and shared instrumentation research facilities. Develop and implement processes for user training, track usage and charges for use of instruments in facility. Accountable for coordination of Emergency Response Plan and collaborate with Tandon Senior Lab Safety Officer, University EH&S team, and Department of Public Safety. Plan and execute preventative, regular maintenance through the operators, outside contractors and equipment vendors and maintain compliance with federal and local authorities.
-Develop and implement processes for user training in the utilization of equipment, track usage and charges for use of instruments.
-Accountable for coordination of Emergency Response Plan with Tandon Senior Lab Safety Officer, University EH&S team, and Department of Public Safety. Responsible for maintaining proper facility documentation and maintenance logs per authority having jurisdiction guidelines
-Accountable for harmonized facility maintenance procedures and practices to cover critical systems such as HVAC, sanitization, security, Toxic Gas Monitoring System, preventative/predictive maintenance program, contract services, building and maintenance monitoring systems in compliance with local and federal regulatory authorities such as: OSHA, state permits, FDNY, etc
-Participate in outreach activities aimed at promoting the research carried in the cleanroom and to grow the user base of the facility. Develop and implement a strategic plan to grow the current capabilities of the cleanroom and instrumentation facilities (e.g., prepare grant proposals, participate in development activities)
Masters or Doctoral Degree in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Chemical Engineering, or related areas.
5+ years experience in of cleanroom-related work. Research or facilities management experience.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Nanofabrication methods, including electron beam lithography, optical lithography, photo and electron beam resists. Material patterning by reactive ion-etching ion-beam etching and liftoff. Thin film deposition by physical vapor deposition, including evaporation and magnetron sputtering, chemical etching and usage (solvents, acids, developers, etc.). General device design and fabrication knowledge (e.g., MEMS, microfluidics, etc).
