  • Position Summary

The Associate Director of Veteran Entrepreneurship Initiatives at NYU Tandon School of Engineering will lead a Brooklyn-based initiative at NYU Tandon to support early stage ventures, from ideation to funding, that are founded by US Military Veterans, Veterans’ Spouses, and Department of Defense affiliates. The Associate Director will oversee the Veterans Future Lab and that is home to three core programmatic functions, all of which pertain to Veterans’ entrepreneurship; those functions are: education, incubation, and innovation. The individual also exercises command and control over the VFL’s three supporting functions; those functions are: logistics, marketing, and fundraising.

The Associate Director reports to the Director of Entrepreneurship at NYU Tandon. The VFL is a part of the Future Labs Program, a ten year old network of unique, high-performing incubators that are run by NYU Tandon School of Engineering.  The VFL Associate Director collaborates with peers at the other Future Labs as necessary.  Supervises three direct reports at the VFL: the VFL’s Community Manager, ProtoShop Manager, and Marketing Lead.  Represents the Veterans Future Lab as a member of NYU’s university-wide Veterans Working Group.

For education, the VFL educates members of its target demographic group through executing in-person learning / networking events that advance the innovation ecosystem. Additionally, the VFL conducts a recurring multi-week, 36 hour Veterans Entrepreneurship Training (VET) course for US Military Veterans, Veterans’ Spouses, and Department of Defense affiliates.  For incubation, the VFL houses and mentors select ventures from across the country that are founded by members of its target demographic group for an approximately one year period via its signature incubator program, Apex.  For innovation, the VFL empowers its target audience to transition hardware ideas into physical creations through its state of the art prototyping resources.
