  • Position Summary

    Administer department operating, special events and faculty research budgets. Manage implementation of special events (e.g., recruitment, orientations, and graduation) and lecture series events. Create content for internal/external communications for BA, MA, and PhD programs. Create and update content for social media outlets. Oversee student staff in organizing office operations. Oversee maintenance of website and assist in production of new site content. Supervise staff.


    Required Education:
    Bachelor's degree

    Preferred Education:
    Preferred experience in an academic environment.

    Required Experience:
    Min 3 years’ relevant experience or equivalent combination. Must include experience managing office operations, planning and coordinating various activities, projects, and events, and developing and implementing office policies and procedures and supporting senior level administrator. Experience managing budgets, and supervising staff.

    Preferred Experience:
    Preferred experience in an academic environment. Experience managing budgets.

    Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
    Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Good writing and proofreading skills. Ability to plan and execute events and student activities. Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks, meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to professionally interact with all levels of students, staff, faculty and alumni. Ability to work cooperatively as a member of an interdisciplinary team of faculty, scholars, administrators, graduate and undergraduate students. Must be able to communicate effectively but with collegiality.

    Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
    Demonstrated knowledge of Google Suites, MS Office, Adobe Photoshop, and proficiency with technology and social media platforms with capacity to integrate design and message across print and electronic media. Strong customer service skills. Highly creative with the ability to develop new ideas for department. Proficiency with database applications. Experience managing website, blog, or other digital media. Exceptional analytical, interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and troubleshoot and deal with problems/obstacles in administrative operations
