The Assistant Director role is a management and supervisory position within NYU's central Office of Budget and Planning. Leads all budget and planning activities within one of two unit portfolio categories (Mission Centers/Schools or Revenue and Cost Centers/Administrative and Auxiliary units). Regularly identifies and implements business process improvements and other positive changes to further the mission of the department; all of this while also successfully setting priorities for, coaching, and effectively managing junior team members.
6+ years’ work experience in related field with responsibility for geographical/organizational portfolios and/or specific functional areas and processes.
7+ years’ work experience in related field; managerial/coaching experience.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Strong analytical skills, logical approaches to problem-solving, the ability to multi-task and manage time efficiently and effectively, professional communication skills and good judgement, and a desire and ability to take initiative, while successfully contributing to a collegial group environment. Mastery of key business and financial concepts and tools (e.g. budgets, operating expenses, capital expenses, financial statements, Microsoft Excel and other Office products, financial software suites).
