  • Position Summary

    The Database/ETL Administrator will be responsible for a) serving as technical liaison to system users and vendors regarding ETL and database issues, access, and testing as well as data conversion; b) leading, assisting and collaborating with stakeholders on customization, maintenance, and integration of system software or database applications, c) managing data quality efforts by working with administrative units and NYU IT on establishing processes and procedures to identify and fix erroneous and inconsistent data, d) providing assistance to ETL/Development functions of the unit, e) evaluating, recommending, and coordinating changes to policies regarding use of ETL and database systems  to improve system efficiency and security, and f) researching, testing and recommending new technology and applications.


    Required Education
    Bachelor's degree with coursework in computer science.    
    Required Experience
    3 years of experience in database administration and management including database design and system analysis.    
    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    Excellent organizational, planning, verbal and written communication skills.  Proven ability to monitor and analyze database problems, the ability to work independently and in a team-/project-oriented environment, as well as the willingness to learn new technical skills and accommodate evolving technologies.  Advanced knowledge of the following is required: DataStage/ETL, Oracle 11g and higher.
    Preferred Education
    Masters of Science degree in computer science or database management.
    Preferred Experience
    5 plus years of experience in ETL and database administration and management.
    Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    OBIEE reporting tool, Attunity, Data Gap software, MariaDB and Mssql.
