  • Position Summary

    The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) and its Contract Office (CO) Reporting to the Vice Provost for Research, is looking for someone to join our team. Our offices are in Greenwich Village in NYC.  We support NYU’s Research Enterprise by providing pre-award and non-financial post-award research administration service and support to all departments, schools, research centers and institutes at the Washington Square campus as well as all of NYU’s global sites, including NYU Abu Dhabi and NYU Shanghai.

     

    Projects Officer/Grants Specialists provide service and support to faculty and school/unit level grant managers/research administrators in all aspects of proposal development and submission to extramural sponsors.  Grants Specialists carry out the core functions of the central office in their review of proposals for conformance with University and sponsor guidelines, review and establish awards on behalf of NYU and interpret and communicate sponsor expectations and requirements to post-award Sponsored Programs Administration colleagues, faculty and school/unit level research administrators to ensure awards are properly administered.  Grants Specialists also contribute to the OSP's research development mission in directing funding opportunities in both the public and private sectors to faculty and teams that can compete successfully.  Grants Specialists work in partnership with Contract Office on the coordination, review and negotiation of both grants and contracts, Grants Specialists are expected to and will be successful in developing strong relationships with their school/department/unit level colleagues and tailor service levels to meet the specific and individual needs of each school/department/unit they serve. 

    Qualifications

    Required Education:
    Bachelor's degree and

    Preferred Education:
    Master's degree

    Required Experience:
    3 years' relevant experience with research administration or an equivalent combination. Must include authoring proposals for funded research and preparing budgets.Preferred experience with research administration in an academic setting.

    Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
    Familiarity with federal regulatory compliance requirements and submission of proposals using electronic research sources. Ability to work well independently or in a group under strict deadlines. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

    Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

    Applicants should: be familiar with various sponsoring agency electronic research administration systems; experience using Cayuse SP and Cayuse 424 welcome; have an understanding of the Uniform Guidance and federal regulatory compliance requirements including conflict of interest, export controls, and research involving animals and humans; possess excellent computer and communication skills;  be service oriented, have a sense of humor and an energy level conducive to working in a deadline driven environment.
