This dental assistant position supports the Oral Health Center for People with Disabilities. Provide four-handed chairside assistance to dental students. Instruct dental students and dental assistant students in techniques and utilization of four-handed dentistry and infection control. Perform tests; assist with preparing dental castings, dispensing medications and instructions, and performing minor dental and surgical procedures; ensure safe use, disposal, and storage of chemicals or hazardous materials. Maintain patient files and charts. Serve as clinic receptionist and clinic cashier.
Required Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Education: Certification as a Dental Assistant.
Required Experience: Graduate of a Dental Assistant Training Program or 1-2 years of related experience.
Preferred Experience: Experience working with patients with disabilities and/or surgical experience strongly preferred.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge of four-handed chairside dental techniques and dental lab equipment. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to operate standard office equipment.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge of a foreign language (e.g., Spanish, Korean, Chinese).
