  • Position Summary

    Maintain moderately complex financial and budgetary spreadsheets. Prepare documents for payment processing, verify the accuracy of invoicing. Prepare, review and process royalty statements. Track and review subventions accounts. Provide a high level of support to Director of Business and NYU Press Director for various subventions and grants procured by the NYU Press. Maintain vendor files, review and check the accuracy of data. Review all travel and entertainment expenses by employees for processing. Assign, review the work of, and train student or casual employees engaged in routine tasks. Perform other clerical duties as assigned.


    Required Education:
    High School diploma or equivalent and 1 year of specialized training in accounting, bookeeping or other related training. May substitute an additional year experience in lieu of training.

    Preferred Education:
    Associates degree in Accounting or related field of study.

    Required Experience:
    2 years of related experience.Experience delivering high standards of customer services and processing a high volume of financial records

    Preferred Experience:
    Experience managing the accounts payble in the book publishing industry.

    Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
    Profienciency with intermediate spreadsheet and database applications. Advanced knowledge of word processing software applications. Moderate, accurate keyboarding (at least 50 WPM). Ability to operate basic office equipment (e.g. photocopy/fax machine). Ability to be regular in attendance and run daily deliveries between the NYU Press office, Accounts Receivables and the Libraries Budget office.

    Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
    Advanced knowledge and skills with the Microsoft Office, Filemaker Pro and other similar applications. Familiarity with other financial applications and publishing industry applications (i.e.CATS). Ability to supervise, train and assign work to student employees. Moderate, accurate keyboarding. Familiarity with iBuy.
