  • Position Summary

    Perform a wide range of clerical, secretarial, and general office management duties including those of a confidential nature. Serve as office receptionist, screening calls and visitors to direct them to the appropriate person or location.  Maintain office supplies. Monitor Dean’s calendar and manage meeting start and end times. Provide comprehensive support to the Dean for his classes and research. Support Assistant Dean for Strategic Initiatives and Chief of Staff by answering telephone, assisting with calendaring, coordinating meetings, and preparing materials for appointments.  Respond to inquiries displaying a comprehensive knowledge of the departmental offerings and policies. Handle all of the Dean’s and Assistant Dean for Strategic Initiatives and Chief of Staff’s reimbursements. Customize and/or compose letters in response to requests for information and gifts to the School. Prioritize office activities and delegate work to student and/or casual employees. Interact with the general public and act as NYU contact/liaison. Interact with University personnel regarding specific questions and issues. Perform general word processing duties utilizing intermediate to advanced-level functions. Modify and/or create databases and complex spreadsheets.   

    Qualifications

    Required Education:
    High School diploma or equivalent or an Associate's degree or some college.

    Preferred Education:
    Bachelor's degree.

    Required Experience:
    3 years of office experience (with High School diploma). 2 years of office experience (with Associates degree or some college).

    Preferred Experience:
    2 years of office experience (with Bachelor's degree).

    Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
    Proficiency with intermediate to advanced word processing, spreadsheet and database applications. Moderate to fast, accurate keyboarding. Good proofreading and writing skills.

    Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
    Proficiency with intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office or proficiency with Apple. Knowledge of desktop publishing software. Knowledge of Advance and/or Access.
