  • Position Summary

    The College of Arts and Science is seeking an experienced Academic Case Manager to join the Student Affairs team. This individual will report to the Assistant Director. This position will assist in reaching out to and assisting students who experience disruption in the normal course of study as a result of academic difficulty, personal crisis or traumatic event. The Academic Case Manager will serve as primary contact and offer follow-up support for students taking and returning from medical leaves of absence, and students who are in need of additional academic support, as referred to by faculty, staff and administration. The Academic Case Manager will serve as an advocate that provides support and guidance, connecting students with university resources as needed to facilitate retention. They will have continued engagement with students while on leave to help facilitate preparation for returning to NYU. In addition, the Academic Case Manager will advise and counsel a cohort of first-year students, serving as the primary academic advisor until they declare their majors, and remaining as a support and resource person throughout their undergraduate career.

    Qualifications

    Required Education:
    Master’s degree in social work counseling, higher education, related field required.

    Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
    Ability to work with sensitive, confidential information and exercise good judgment and discretion. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational/time management skills – must be able to multitask and manage multiple priorities.
