To support these programs, NYU Stern has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Director of Communications in the Public Affairs office. As a strong writer and storyteller, the selected candidate will manage financial/business media relations for Stern. S/he will develop and implement proactive, strategic media plans to increase School visibility, including conceiving story ideas, pitching ideas to appropriate press members, and acting as point person for media calls. S/he will identify and cultivate media relationships, and keep abreast of current trends in business news coverage. The selected candidate will also assist the team with support of marketing, communications and visibility across all platforms and develop publicity campaigns for events initiated by students, research centers, and faculty.
The selected candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree (MBA or Master’s degree preferred) and 5 years of experience in financial/business media relations. Must include demonstrated success with developing media plans, creating story ideas, and placing stories in local, national and international press. Excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills, and project management skills are critical. Knowledge of public relations strategies and tactics, including relationship building is also essential along with knowledge of e-communication development, social media platforms, and their role in an integrated marketing plan. PR agency experience is a plus.
