As part of University Development and Alumni Relation’s (UDAR) fundraising team, the Senior Development Associate (SDA) is responsible for developing prospecting and cultivation strategies to increase individual giving for the Bronfman Center for Jewish Student Life at NYU. The SDA will maintain and enhance systems for prospect management, including the development and implementation of various reports and data retrievals. Additionally, the SDA is responsible for drafting briefings and external communications for the Bronfrman Center’s development officer. Other work includes managing the Bronfman Center budget, communicating with Bronfman Center board members, creating new opportunities to engage alumni and lead online giving campaigns. She or he will promote the University and School programs and initiatives to cultivate active donors and solicit volunteer participation. This position is a key liaison between the Bronfman Center and various UDAR departments and will manage multiple projects simultaneously.
2 years' fundraising and event management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proven track record for organizing and improving systems. Demonstrated ability to think and plan strategically, set actionable goals and successfully implement them to further the mission of an organization.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Acute attention to detail and a high level of professionalism. Ability to manage projects across various programs simultaneously, including prioritization and execution of multiple tasks, meeting tight deadlines, and working in a fast-paced environment. Ability to professionally interact with all levels of alumni, parents, students, staff, faculty and other populations. Extensive knowledge of word processing, presentation, spreadsheet, and database software required; mastery of Microsoft Excel preferred.
Training in statistical analysis and/or project management.
Experience in an academic, non-profit and/or development environment. Experience in creating, revising, analyzing and presenting reports, including the development of metrics and standard protocols for measuring growth.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficiency with MS Office, Access and PowerPoint. Familiarity with budget management, including the development of expenditure projections. Experience with program development and evaluation a plus. Adaptability to a variety of interpersonal interactions, both internally and externally.
