The IT Specialist will be responsible for ensuring continuous, high-quality service for multiple applications which may include: Sakai learning management system, WordPress, Kaltura video streaming service, Atlassian Confluence and JIRA, as well as other web-based applications. The IT Specialist will troubleshoot issues; analyze applications to diagnose and solve service faults; work collaboratively with user-facing teams in the resolution of issues; interface with technical teams, both within and outside of NYU (e.g., vendor technical support); support software development and QA activities through DevOps practices; work collaboratively with user-facing teams to resolve issues; act as an application subject matter expert (SME) to multiple NYU IT projects and within Provost-sponsored governances committees as required; monitor application performance and uptime.
Required Education: Bachelor's degree in STEM field, computer-related field or equivalent experience.
Preferred Education: Master's degree in Computer Science
Required Experience: 3+ years experience with supporting enterprise systems and/or user-facing services. Experience in a collaborative team environment.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; clear and effective written and verbal communication; ability to work and communicate effectively in a collaborative team environment; software development experience; working knowledge of REST/SOAP APIs and familiarity with cloud hosting services, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Experience with Java-based applications
