To oversee all aspects of the implementation and safe installation of temporary theatrical sound and media plots for Undergraduate Drama productions; inventory,track, and maintain department sound, and projection equipment; and to provide instruction to Undergraduate Theatre majors in theatrical sound and media production. Oversee staff and manage assigned budget.
Bachelors of Arts degree
Master of Fine Arts in Technical Production or Projection or Sound Design
Min 3 years technical/supervisory experience in projection, sound design and installation. Experience in communicating sound design or technology to diverse audience. Experience administering budgets.
Min. 4 to 5 years of technical/supervisory experience in projection, sound design and installation. Familiarity with aspects of professional New York theatre. Member of United States Institute Of Theatre Technology (USITT) and United Scenic Artists (USA) or International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE).
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Strong organizational, drafting, and rigging skills. Excellent communication skills as well as 'team building' ability. The Sound & Media Director is expected to remain well versed in the current standards and practices, both educational and professional, of Projection, Sound Design, Advances and new technology as it relates to production. Computer literacy in Windows and Mac operating systems; applications: Microsoft Office, Vectorworks Spotlight, AutoCAD, LightWright, Protools, Apple Logic Studio, SFX, Q-Lab
