Serve as a designated resource for customers of the NYU Student Health Center (SHC) Insurance and Patient Accounts Department to diagnose and resolve in-person more complex client inquiries and issues related to student health insurance, healthcare billing and payments and referral arrangements. Deliver complex healthcare financial services to help patients effectively navigate and resolve an array of services from the SHC and other healthcare providers. Respond to inquiries and resolve issues professionally and courteously displaying a comprehensive knowledge of department and student-related administrative policies and procedures across insurance and patient accounts departments. Partner with appropriate departmental specialists, Student Health Center Supervisors, or other University or external partners to bring matters requiring their expertise to a close. Track and resolve student issues.
Required Education: Bachelor’s degree
Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree in business or healthcare management
Required Experience: 2 or more years of related experience in healthcare patient financial services environment.
Preferred Experience: 3 or more years experience in ambulatory healthcare patient financial services environment.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to influence and advocate when appropriate. Excellent interpersonal, analytical, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills. Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality customer service throughout a case’s ‘life cycle’ (i.e., from initial contact to issue resolution). Ability to interpret policies and procedures, to interact effectively with a diverse population at all levels, and to facilitate decision making. Ability to handle multiple tasks in a high volume, deadline-driven environment.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Familiarity with New York health insurance carriers and regulations.
