  • Position Summary

    The Stewardship Officer is part of the Stewardship team and is responsible for donor acknowledgment, reporting, recognition and events. Reporting to the Director of Stewardship, the Stewardship Officer will manage and execute a comprehensive donor reporting program that demonstrates the impact of donor gifts to scholarships and other designated funds through written reports and other strategic communication and engagement. As part of this program, the incumbent will develop stewardship strategies appropriate to the donor and university standards. The Stewardship Officer is also responsible for ongoing management of high-level donor recognition societies.

    Qualifications

    Required Education:
    Bachelor's degree

    Preferred Education:
    Related coursework in project management, marketing, and writing

    Required Experience:
    2 to 3 years' experience in Development or Fundraising for a large institution. Demonstrated experience in writing narrative reports to donors

    Preferred Experience:
    Stewardship and Donor Relations experience highly preferred. Applicant should have a strong proficiency in development/stewardship writing. Able to manage multiple projects in a deadline-oriented environment. Candidate will be expected to demonstrate writing and proofreading skills, including submitting writing samples.

    Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
    • Excellent writing, editing, proofing, and communications skills. Writing sample required

    • Strong project management skills, with a proven ability to manage competing deadlines and prioritize workload, follow up in a timely manner on projects, and keep supervisor informed

    • Interface with senior colleagues to resolve donor requests

    • Strong customer service orientation and experience working with high-net-worth donors

    • Extraordinary attention to detail at all times

    • Knowledge of principles of fundraising in higher education

    • Strong Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel skills, knowledge of Sungard Advance database software preferred

    • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information

    • Ability to work with multiple constituencies, including school-based development staff, fundraisers, Accounts Payable, IT, Financial Aid, Controller’s Office, writers, designers, freelancers, and event staff

    • Flexibility: willing to take on new assignments and work occasional evening/weekend events as needed

    Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
    Collegial, collaborative style with a positive “can do” attitude. Able to represent UDAR in positive manner to wider NYU community and colleagues
