The Office for Global Inclusion, Diversity and Strategic Innovation seeks an Associate Director for Inclusive Innovation and Entrepreneurship to help lead and advance inclusion, diversity, belonging and equity (IDBE) in the areas of innovation and entrepreneurship, and build on the numerous efforts and strategies across the University. The Associate Director will accelerate and expand IDBE efforts, innovation and entrepreneurial, and related opportunities and initiatives.
The ideal candidate must be action-oriented with a track record of leading and advancing IDBE initiatives and implementing, tracking and measuring results. He/She will be a highly skilled communicator, team builder, and problem solver— and will have built and sustained effective partnerships across a variety of constituencies. Initially reporting to the Senior Vice President for Global Inclusion, Diversity and Strategic Innovation and Chief Diversity Officer (CDO) and AVP for Global Inclusive Student Engagement and Leadership, the successful candidate will lead the development and implementation of an innovation and entrepreneurial vision for IDBE across the office for Global Inclusion, Diversity and Strategic Innovation and collaborate with the school liaisons and other key stakeholders to advance NYU’s mission, IDBE goals and priorities. They will also work in collaboration with the Chief of Staff.
The Associate Director role is especially critical to harnessing, guiding and leading IDBE outreach efforts with internal and external university and school partners, to signal NYU’s deep commitment to inclusive innovative, entrepreneurial, trans/inter-disciplinary teaching and learning. The Associate Director will partner with leaders and will work with central administration, across schools and NYU’s global network to advance the University’s academic and IDBE mission and develop initiatives that enrich our innovation and IDBE intersectional efforts. To this end, the Associate Director will collect data, assess outcomes, provide and disseminate peer data and reports relevant to IDBE innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives. This incumbent will be a thought-leader and visionary in this area.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for cutting-edge trends within higher education and innovation. They will be a leader and a follower of trends who has experience working in a large decentralized environment; worked across administrators, staff, faculty and student constituency groups both inside and outside of the classroom. The Associate Director will continually identify areas of innovation collaboration, and align resources to promote an accessible, and diverse community focused on inclusion and entrepreneurship. The Associate Director along with the Chief of Staff will be responsible for the website, newsletter and other outreach strategies for the office and will work in collaboration with other team members to ensure alignment. This incumbent must create an execute with the Chief of Staff a comprehensive social media, and digital strategy to ensure that the social media and digital technologies being used are aligned with the overall IDBE innovation and entrepreneurship strategy. The new Associate Director will have strong working relationships with the Chief of Staff and other AVPs, as well as develop partnerships with colleagues across the University, and in those in the innovation areas across the schools and University.
It is critical to the success of the position that key stakeholders across the University view the Associate Director as a leader, an internal partner and resource. The Associate Director will expand and deepen discussions about IDBE and related issues through strategies (working closely with Chief of Staff), social media, and innovative initiatives. They will also work in collaboration with the innovation and entrepreneurship officers across the schools to identify the best innovative research and pedagogy to develop and expand IDBE partnerships and growth opportunities.
Master’s degree in related field
At least 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must include at least 3 years’ experience working on and leading communication and innovation/entrepreneurship initiatives and implementing digital technologies. Experience working in a decentralized environment, with graduate and undergraduate students, working with pipeline/pathway programs, and creating new programs is required.
Related professional experience in a university setting in the advancement of inclusion, diversity, belonging and equity (IDBE) work.

Excellent people skills, including the ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team. High aptitude in decision-making and problem solving skills. Demonstrated ability to be flexible, multitask, and work in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment while also driving toward clarity and solutions. Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding people and systems. Solid understanding of communication tools and social media. Demonstrated interest in entrepreneurship and innovation. An understanding of the NYU/higher education environment and critical success factors and obstacles impacting IDBE work. Ability to attend conferences and limited travel required.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Strong knowledge of branding and marketing principles and practices. Working knowledge of mobile applications and infographics.
