  • Position Summary

    Develop, coordinate, and implement programs and services for the Center for Student Life within the Division of Student Affairs. Responsibilities typically include advising and supervising student leaders, facilitating peer leadership programs, managing new student on-boarding programs and processes, creating workshops and services tailored to one or more targeted and identified student communities, and working to develop or enhance appropriate engagement models and resource planning that facilitates connections with faculty, students, and staff outside the classroom. As an active member of the Center for Student Life team this position will have involvement in student organization advisement, university and departmental policy oversight, program and service assessment, major programming, budget management, communication, marketing, and collaboration across the Center for Student Life and campus. This Program Administrator position within the Center for Student Life will create, coordinate, and implement a unified and departmental wide approach to Commuter and Transfer Student Life. This position will be integral in creating a seamless transition as it relates to first-year undergraduate Commuter students and new Transfers through the supervision our Commuter Assistant and Transfer Student Ambassador programs. The ideal candidate will work with departmental leadership in creating community for Commuter and Transfer students at New York University through on-boarding and orientation programs, student leadership initiatives, comprehensive services, communication and counterpart engagement.


    Required Education:
    Bachelor’s degree in a related area

    Preferred Education:
    Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, or related area.

    Required Experience:
    2+ years’ related experience administering programs and/or services to college students, including planning and implementing programs, advising and supervising students, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Preferred Experience:
    Relevant experience in a college student life environment working with targeted communities of students, student organizations, peer leader programs, new student orientation, or equivalent combinations. Passion for and experience with working with Commuter and/or Transfer student populations.

    Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage work concurrently. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the demonstrated ability to develop effective relationships and communicate with diverse populations and stakeholders. Knowledge of standard office productivity software.

    Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
    Working knowledge of student development theory and higher education practices. Creating and executing program and population assessments. Working knowledge of social media platforms, graphic design programs, event management, and/or student organization software.
