  • Position Summary

    As a member of the EDM leadership team and reporting to the Chief Data Architect, the Director - EDM Service Management and Infrastructure Support will lead the design and delivery of the strategy and roadmap for EDM service management and data management tool/platform related infrastructure support. The Data Infrastructure Support team and Data Operational Support team will report to this position. This position will lead the development and implementation of standards, policies, processes and procedures. The Director will lead EDM’s collaboration with the many other IT groups to ensure the timely delivery of Enterprise Data Management services. This role will also serve as a strategy partner for IT Infrastructure and Information Security Group to ensure data management tools and platforms are well supported and protected. In addition, this position will lead the design and implementation of metrics for customer service satisfaction, setting baselines and targets for those measurements and holding the cross-functional IT teams accountable for those targets. This position will work with the Chief Data Architect and all service managers in EDM group to develop and manage the group strategic roadmap. This role will be responsible to design, develop and implement strategy and roadmap for DBA services, self-service BI services and EDM group operational support. Under the guidance of the Chief Data Architect, this position will lead the provision of EDM support to different functional units and schools in relation to data management. He/she will provide oversight to EDM project portfolio and partner with IT Program Service Office and IT Business Service Office to ensure timely and high quality delivery of all EDM projects. This position will lead efforts to ensure alignment of EDM with IT standards, policies, processes, and procedures set forth by the CIO.

    Qualifications

    Required Education:
    Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science or similar major

    Preferred Education:
    Master Degree highly preferred

    Required Experience:
    At least 15 years of progressively responsible professional level experience in an information technology environment and/or in a client-centered service organization with heavy emphasis on large-scale, shared, and high performance computing systems. 3 – 5 years in IT Service Management, change management, program management or similar discipline.

    Preferred Experience:
    Experience in higher education, academic and shared computing services.

    Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
    • At least 7 years of demonstrated leadership skills in the area of IT operations in the data management space in a global company • Experience in leading technical boards covering demand, capacity, incident, problem, change, and release management • Solid hands-on experience in development and implementation of standards, policies, processes and procedures relating to IT operations in enterprise data management • Experience in designing, building and supporting data management systems • Experience in implementing DevOps, monitoring, and automation preferred • Knowledge of organizational Information Architecture and Information Management (IM) Methodology and Standards • Experience in working closely with database administrators to ensure databases are maintained and fine-tuned • Deep understanding of ITIL v3 frameworks, tools, and techniques • ITIL v3 certification required • Deep understanding of information security • CISSP certification is a plus • Excellent analytical and communication skills with the ability to reach senior business management as well as technical audiences • Strong problem-solving and organizational ability • Project management skills. Ability to deliver projects of great complexity, on time and within budget. • Project management certification from a reputable educational institution is required. • Act as a liaison to service desk staff and development staff and handle high-level escalation of technical and management issues. • The preferred candidate will have a broad background in application development, information security, enterprise data solutions and architecture • Ability to work independently to solve complex problems, and be technical yet possess the soft skills work with a variety of partners.
