Position Summary

This position will develop, coordinate, and implement programs and services for the Center for Student Life within the Division of Student Affairs. As an active member of the Center for Student Life team the Program Administrator will have involvement in student organization advisement, university and departmental policy oversight, program and service assessment, major programming, budget management, communication, marketing, and collaboration across the Center for Student Life and campus. Serves with other CSL staff on leading university wide events, and undertake special projects to be assigned at the discretion of the CSL leadership team.

This role will primarily focus on creating a unified and departmental wide approach to our undergraduate Class Activities Board. Furthermore, the Program Administrator will work with departmental leadership in creating community for each undergraduate class of students at New York University through major programs, student leadership initiatives, comprehensive services, communication and counterpart engagement. This position will create and oversee program and population assessments, communication efforts, and related budgets. Work collaboratively with other members of CSL staff, the division of student affairs, university schools, and departments to provide insight to these communities and create programs and services based on needs and trends related to the class year transition.

The Program Administrator will also help to develop, implement and supervise our Welcome Programs including Welcome Week, Welcome Back Week, Grad Welcome, and Spring Welcome. Coordinate the recruitment, selection, development and supervision for over 350 Welcome Program leaders. Create a university wide communication plan for all initiatives related to the new student experience. This position will have the opportunity to supervise a Graduate Assistant that is connected to the work they are responsible for. Additional capacites of this role will be aiding in the development and enhancement of  appropriate new student engagement models and resource planning that facilitates student connections with faculty, students, departments, and staff outside the classroom.


Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a related area

Preferred Education:
Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, or related area

Required Experience:
2+ years’ related experience administering programs and/or services to college students, including planning and implementing large-scale social and educational programs, creating new student programs and initiatives, advising and supervising students, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Experience:
Relevant experience in a college student life environment working with targeted communities of students, student organizations, peer leader programs, new student orientation, or equivalent combinations.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage work concurrently. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the demonstrated ability to develop effective relationships and communicate with diverse populations and stakeholders. Knowledge of standard office productivity software.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Working knowledge of student development theory and higher education practices. Creating and executing program and population assessments. Working knowledge of social media platforms, graphic design programs, event management, and/or student organization software.
