The IT Product Specialist will work as a part of the Academic Application Development team supporting the University’s enterprise academic applications. These applications support teaching and learning for NYU’s 60,000 students and 9,000 faculty members, across three campuses (New York City, Shanghai, and Abu Dhabi). The Product Specialist will be responsible for ensuring a high-quality user experience for enterprise academic applications. The incumbent will advise and consult with NYU faculty, staff, and students to inform the design and development of enterprise applications, through requirements gathering, meetings with individuals and groups, structured usability testing sessions, and focus groups with faculty, students, and staff. The incumbent will (1) work closely with NYU IT developers and vendors in the design and development of new functionality and user experience (UX) enhancements; (2) conduct user experience testing and functionality testing as part of an iterative, Agile development cycle; (3) act as a product subject matter expert (SME) to multiple NYU IT projects and within Provost-sponsored governances committees; and (4) provide day-to-day application-level support of our academic services, which include WordPress, Google Apps for Education, Kaltura video streaming service, Sakai (Learning Management System), Box, and Atlassian Confluence.
