Position Summary

The Procurement Operations Manager is responsible for developing, implementing and adjusting policies, procedures and goals for the operation of the procurement function in accordance with the University's strategic objectives. This position is responsible for managing a team of operational buyers who process purchase orders, and works closely with Accounts Payable to ensure procurement processes are streamlined for both departmental users and internal Financial Operations & Treasury resources.


Required Education:
Bachelor's degree

Preferred Education:
Bachelor's degree preferably in Finance, Supply Chain, or Operations Management.

Required Experience:
At least 5 years of relevant procurement operations experience including supervisory experience.

Preferred Experience:
Additional purchasing and supervisory experience is preferred.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Proven ability to manage, coach and direct resources. Proven ability to constructively manage conflict. Demonstrated ability to hold self and others accountable for productivity, efficiency and quality. Proven ability to understand client needs and provide value to clients through streamlined processes and quality execution of purchase orders and payments. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are required. Must be a team player and able to work with clients around the University as well as internal Finance Operations & Treasury resources. Must be detail-oriented to ensure accuracy, consistency and quality of purchase requisitions. Must be adaptable and flexible to fluctuating circumstances and requests. Proven ability to work in a fastpaced environment is required. Demonstrated ability to facilitate internal and cross-functional meetings to accomplish a set objective that is aligned with departmental objectives. Ability to identify issues, generate or solicit creative solutions to issues, and follow resolutions through to completion. Ability to understand, comply with, and make recommendations for improvement with respect to NYU Finance Policies.
