Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Vice President for University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR), the Vice President and Campaign Director (VP) is responsible for creating, implementing and evaluating a comprehensive and strategic development program. The VP will lead UDAR’s fundraising efforts through the oversight of UDAR’s frontline and advancement services support departments in setting and achieving annual fundraising and campaign goals. The VP is responsible for creating and leading the University’s strategies for identification and cultivation of prospects, closing major gifts and leveraging data and analytics to drive fundraising and advancement services change within the organization. She/He will direct University annual fundraising targeted at bringing in over $600M (+) per year, and will partner with the SVP in developing and executing a multi-billion dollar campaign. Partner with the Senior Vice President with the overall University fundraising strategy and organization structure and assist with development matters related to trustees and major donors. In addition, the VP will manage an individual portfolio of principal gift level prospects and donors.

Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's degree

Preferred Education:
Master's degree or MBA

Required Experience:
Ten years (+) professional responsible development experience. Proven record of successful solicitation of large gifts. Strong administrative and human resources management skills, and strategic planning and implementation skills. Experience managing multiple and complex departments. Experience in establishing performance metrics, evaluating performance outcomes and implementing performance improvement strategies.

Preferred Experience:
Professional experience in an academic environment.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent organizational and writing skills. Commitment to high performance and teamwork. Proven ability and desire to reach increasing goals. Familiarity with best practices and effective options of annual giving programs, corporate and foundation relations, major gifts programs, planned giving instruments etc. Ability to successfully navigate a complex and highly matrix environment. Ability to manage multiple strategies and tactics to motivate and influence employees and annual results.

Dedicated to forging strong relationships among direct reports, partners, peers, University Leadership, trustees, donors and prospects.
