The College of Nursing seeks a Systems Administrator to manage the day-to-day operations of hardware and software on servers that support the administrative and business functions of the College. The position will oversee the design and development of a network infrastructure which can meet the needs of the academic, clinical and research programs and which can sustain a distance learning component with global capabilities. Responsibilities include: providing technical expertise in support of state-of-the-art computer technology used by over 130 faculty and researchers for teaching and research; analyzing hardware and software needs, performing installations, testing, maintenance, upgrades and administration of hardware, operating systems and applications; consultations with faculty and researchers; conducting training sessions; supervising and developing standards for help desk staff; and management of website maintenance.
3 years of relevant experience installing, configuring, and maintaining complex server and Local Area Network environments, troubleshooting and providing technical support to users in an operating system environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience working in an academic environment. Supervisory experience.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent working knowledge of server, computer, storage, knowledge of project management, Windows servers, and MS Active Directory services. Strong planning, analytical, and problem solving skills. Ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience. Knowledge of a variety of current and emerging technologies. Scripting skills in PowerShell or VB Scripting and shell scripting to resolve college wide issues and manage computers.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of backup architecture and management.
