NYU’s prestigious Leonard N. Stern School of Business has a challenging opportunity for an Associate Director of Communications in the Public Affairs office. As a strong writer and story-teller, the selected candidate will be responsible for managing public relations efforts for faculty, school initiatives, campaigns and other newsworthy items. S/he will contribute to the media relations team by conceiving and pitching story ideas to appropriate reporters and fielding media calls. The selected candidate will also manage high profile events and utilize social media tools to assist in the marketing and public relations efforts of the school.
The selected candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree (MBA or Master’s degree preferred) and at least 5 years' communications experience in financial/business publication writing and production and media relations or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A proven ability to identify news and feature ideas and place in appropriate media outlets is strongly desired. Excellent interpersonal skills, with a client service orientation; strong project management skills with attention to detail and deadlines; and strong written and verbal communication skills are critical. Experience using social media tools for marketing and public relations in an academic or corporate setting is also preferred.
