Arts and Science is seeking a talented Department Manager to join the Department of Sociology. This individual will manage business and administrative operations for a large academic department, encompassing a broad and highly complex variety of funding sources and staff to ensure effective and efficient office operations and the delivery of budgetary, financial, administrative and technical services. Manage preparation of financial reports and projects for department; develop departmental budget, manage and control expenditures. Act as administrative liaison with other school and University offices; interpret and apply University policies to plan and manage highly complex administrative matters.
Bachelor's degree and
3 or more years of increasingly responsible administrative experience (e.g., managing administrative services/processes, budgets, and staff) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in higher education or non-profit environment.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent planning, management, networking, and presentation skills. Ability to negotiate solutions to contain problems and persuade others when some differences of opinion may exist. Knowledge of standard office software.
