Position Summary

As part of the University Development and Alumni Relations, (UDAR) Stewardship and Events Team, the Communications Manager is responsible for the creation and management of strategic communications and marketing plans for 30+ global and domestic high-level annual events and conferences hosted by the President of NYU and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees aimed at the Board of Trustees and major donors and prospects, alumni and parents in support of the University’s fundraising and stewardship goals. The Communications Manager reports directly to the Associate Vice President for Events and Stewardship. He/she will manage, develop and deliver targeted internal and external communications and ensure consistency of messaging to key University constituencies and major donor groups that reflect the current administration’s priorities and the University’s mission. She/he will provide content, write, and edit promotional materials for print and Web publications and prospects/donors outreach materials. She/he will work with UDAR leadership to develop strategies aimed at increasing engagement and giving. She/he will consult with colleagues overseeing communications in other University offices such as Alumni Relations, Student Life, Admissions and Public Affairs and seek to build beneficial partnerships with colleagues at NYU in New York City and throughout NYU’s Global Network.

Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's degree

Preferred Education:
N/A

Required Experience:
4 years' public relations and promotions experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must include extensive writing and editorial production. Speech writing skills also required.

Preferred Experience:
Experience working in an academic or non-profit environment preferred

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of the non-profit sector. Proven track record of interaction with high net worth individuals. Excellent writing/editing skills. Team-oriented and the ability to work with a diverse population. Understanding of different cultures Skilled in multitasking and time management. Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
