Position Summary

The Associate Director of Investment Operations reports to the Director of Investment Operations and is an essential member of the NYU Investment Office team. The candidate is expected to work closely with the Director of Investment Operations and Senior Investment Operations Analyst in executing day-to-day operational activities for the office. He/she will be responsible for accounting, valuation and performance reporting, portfolio analytics, information and documentation control, operational risk management, and other functions such as asset allocation support and transition management leadership to help ensure successful implementation of the Endowment’s strategy. The Associate Director of Investment Operations will work closely with the Endowment’s Chief Investment Officer and investment team, custodian bank, investment managers and administrators, and other University departments including the Treasurer’s Office.


Required Education:
Bachelor of Arts

Preferred Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

Required Experience:
5 years of relevant experience at an endowment-like institution, investment company, bank, or similar environment

Preferred Experience:
7-10 years of experience at a University Endowment or non‐profit institution.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent problem-solving analytic abilities supported by sophisticated use of Excel. Strong critical and strategic thinking skills. Curiosity and keen attention to detail. Strong knowledge of investment operations and functions, including performance reporting. High degree of comfort with and interest in systems and applications relevant to investment operations, trading, reporting, and risk management. The ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and to meet deadlines. Excellent oral and written communication skills. The highest ethical standards. Professional, proactive, self-motivated, hard-working and enthusiastic. Able to develop the Office’s current practices into “best practices.” Able to build credibility with University colleagues, service providers, and other constituents. Flexible in order to work both autonomously and collaboratively in a demanding environment. Focused on having a meaningfully positive impact on and delivering results to the Investment Office.
