Bachelor’s DegreePreferred Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in journalism, communications, or a related field. Master's Degree preferred.Required Experience:
Min 2 years of relevant communications experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must include experience in managing content in digital space including website, social media, blogs, multimedia content and other online platforms. Writer with experience in translating highly scientific and technical research into copy for a non-scientist audience.Preferred Experience:
Written copy samples show ability to change voice and writing style to fit a particular audience and purpose.Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent writing, editing, research, and communication skills; Demonstrated capacity for critical, independent, and creative thinking; Strong project and time management skills, verbal skills and organizational skills; Fluency and creativity with social media sites; Knowledge of social media platforms and their role in an integrated communications plan; Previous experience making site updates using a content management system (CMS). Knowledge of basic HTML coding and digital graphics production skills through Adobe Creative Suite (ex: InDesign, Photoshop) Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Must possess the ability to work with highly technical material in a variety of scientific specialties of the Center’s data scientists. Strong editorial judgment, as well as diplomacy and interpersonal skills.Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Ability to write quickly, accurately, and intelligently to produce concise, polished, lively, and accurate copy about scientific and technical research.
