Position Summary

Respond to urgent and emergency situations with students and provide counseling and crisis intervention evenings and/or weekends including being available for 24 hour on call coverage. Conduct clinical assessments online, by phone, and in-person, assessing students' emotional or psychological problems; develop and implement appropriate responses including immediate hospitalization and/or referrals to other University medical and mental health care offices. Follow-up with students, their health care providers and families and appropriate University administration to monitor the progress of students treatment and recovery.


Required Education:
Master's degree in Social Work/Psychology and LMSW, or Master's degree in Nursing with specialization in mental health and/or substance abuse.

Preferred Education:
Advanced training/research in suicide prevention and sexual assault cases.

Required Experience:
3 years' clinical case management experience in a trauma setting or mobile crisis response unit (e.g., hospital emergency room, community mental health center, or similar community based organization) addressing depression, suicidology, sexual assault cases, substance abuse and emotional and other psychological issues. Experience assessing students with suicidal ideation.

Preferred Experience:
Experience working with diverse adolescent or college population managing treatment.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal, listening, verbal and written communication skills. Familiarity with research on mental health needs of college students including suicide prevention.
