  • Position Summary

    In collaboration with the Assistant Dean of Strategic Marketing and Communications and the external public relations firm, develop the overarching communications themes that will serve to position the NYU School of Professional Studies as a thought leader of industry and will promote its vertical units and areas of expertise to prospective students, parents, employers and hiring managers, donors, industry partners, and the public at large in local, national, and international markets. Shape and manage the School's social media presence to build brand recognition and to encourage communication among internal and external constituents. Ensure that public relations and social media content generated by academic departments strategically aligns with School and Division messaging.

    Qualifications

    Required Education:
    Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, writing, or journalism.

    Preferred Education:
    Master's degree in public relations, communications, writing or journalism.

    Required Experience:
    7-10 years of relevant professional experience. Must include experience directing public relations for a large, complex organization.

    Preferred Experience:
    Working knowledge of and media contacts in the industry verticals in which NYUSPS offers educational content – real estate, marketing, hospitality, sports management, project management, human resources, global affairs, tourism, professional writing, publishing. Strong contacts in higher education.

    Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
    Impeccable writing and editing skills. Ability to distill complex ideas into clear concepts. Strong network of media contacts in the higher education press.

    Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
    Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines and handle multiple media requests in a timely manner. Deep working knowledge of social media platforms as vehicles for promotions, content distribution, and business development

The School of Professional Studies captures the expertise of the key sectors that make New York City a great global capital, such as real estate, finance, marketing, public relations, global affairs, hospitality and tourism, sports management, philanthropy and fundraising, communications/media, writing, the arts, and others.  Full- and part-time students enroll in on-site and online credit programs, including graduate degrees and undergraduate degrees for both adults returning to school and traditional-aged students.  In addition, working professionals and other adult learners pursue career objectives or intellectual discovery in over 2,500 courses, diploma programs, conferences, and seminars annually.
