Position Summary

Arts and Science is seeking a talented part-time Administrative Aide II to join Silsila: Center for Material Histories. This individual will perform a wide range of clerical, secretarial and general office duties including those of a confidential nature. Assist with travel arrangements for visiting scholars. Assist with organizing meetings and conferences. Prioritize office activities and respond to inquiries displaying a comprehensive knowledge of the Center's activities, policies and programs. Interact with the general public as NYU liaison and with University personnel including those at the senior level to resolve issues and problems. Customize and/or compose letters on own initiative or in response to requests for information. Perform general word processing duties utilizing intermediate to advanced-level functions. Modify and/or create databases and complex spreadsheets. Monitor complex budgets.

 

**Please note, this is a part-time position at 20 hours per week. The tentative schedule is Monday - Thursday, 10:00am - 3:00pm.

Qualifications

Required Education:
High School diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Education:
Bachelor's degree.

Required Experience:
3 years of office experience. Experience providing a high level of customer service.

Preferred Experience:
2 years of office experience (with Associate's degree). 1 year of office experience (with Bachelor's degree).

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Proficiency with intermediate to advanced word processing, spreadsheet and database applications. Moderate to fast, accurate keyboarding. Good proofreading and writing skills.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Proficiency with intermediate to advanced word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.Moderate to fast, accurate keyboarding. Good proofreading and writing skills. Proficiency with intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office or proficiency with Apple. Knowledge of desktop publishing software. Knowledge of Access.

**This position reports 10 months per calendar year. Non-working months are July and August.
