The Senior Instructional Technologist collaborates with faculty and technologists, and supervises employees working on, with the creation and/or use of educational media and technology projects to support the educational goals of the faculty, department, school, site, and University. Manage and provide updates to internal instructional technologists on assignments. Maintain hardware and infrastructure necessary for producing media content. Coordinate services with other NYU instructional support units.
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field around education and/or media production and at least 5 years of related professional work experience, or a Master’s degree in a related field with at least 3 years of professional work experience, or equivalent.
5+ years’ experience in managing, designing, developing and delivering various kinds of effective educational media and technology projects within budget and on schedule. Experience creating and managing workflow processes for educational media and technology projects. Experience applying educational design principles to various visual and media elements. Experience working on a variety of projects simultaneously; Experience directing and managing a team of media production professionals.
Experience managing a team for the creation of large-scale media projects, including the planning, scoping and budgeting of such projects. Experience maintaining client relationships. Educational experience a plus.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Demonstrated effectiveness in managing, designing, developing, and delivering educational media and technology projects. Familiarity with media pre-production, production, and post-production, including cameras systems, video editing hardware and software, motion graphics software, and content management systems for deploying content online.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of pre-production, production, and post-production systems, including: modern camera systems (DSLRs, Micro 4/3, and production cameras), editing software and post workflows (Adobe Premiere, Avid Media Composer, Adobe After Effects). Project management skills including the creation of detailed project plans and business cases, monitoring milestone, and ensuring the delivery of media on-deadline and without error. Basic knowledge of media licensing preferred.
