Position Summary

Data Governance is the orchestration of people, process, and technology to enable an organization to leverage data as an enterprise asset. It affects all areas of the organization including lines of business, functional areas and geographies. Data Governance includes policies, procedures, organization, roles, and responsibilities, with associated communication and training required to design, develop, and provide ongoing support for the effort. The Data Governance Lead role is a position within the Enterprise Data Management team reporting to Senior Director for Data Strategy and Governance Services. The position provides leadership and management across Data Governance activities. Primary focus centers on leading project teams in order to drive issues to resolution. The Data Governance Service Lead is required to have a comfort level with working through complex data-related challenges across a globally diverse organization. To be successful requires strong business and interpersonal competencies.

Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelors in Computer Science, MIS, or Information Management

Preferred Education:
Masters in Computer Science, MIS, or Information Management

Required Experience:
- Understanding of the Organization as a whole; business unit functions and University Departments. - Understanding the business Data Domains such as Student, Space/Location, Identity, among others - General understanding of a conceptual, logical and physical data models - Understanding of data sensitivity, security and privacy concepts - Knowledge of risk data architecture and technology solutions

- Strong meeting facilitation skills; organized - Excellent communication skills; articulate - Skillful in planning, time management and negotiation skills - Ability to work with both business data stewards & IT Data Custodians - Ability to work with multiple levels within the Organization - Team player with effective listening skills
