Position Summary

New York University seeks an experienced, talented Assistant Director of Visitor Relations and Special Events, who will play a critical role in creating an exceptional campus visit experience for prospective students, families, and guests one of the largest experiential marketing programs in U.S. higher education. The successful candidate is an informed and critical thinker, equally comfortable with strategic planning, project management, and specific task execution. The successful candidate will join a staff dedicated to positioning the university as a top-tier institution of higher learning, and will not only seek to support the vision of the team, but to continually advance and refine that vision for the present and future. The person in this role will continue to create a strong partnership with student life leaders and groups across the University in order to plan and execute annual on-and- off campus special events for prospective students, families, community based organizations, college counselors, and alumni volunteers. The successful candidate has a background in event planning, visitor/external relations, and a creative, collaborative approach.

Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's degree

Preferred Education:
N/A

Required Experience:
3-5 years experience in event planning, experiential marketing, external/visitor relations, or related field in the higher education, governmental, nonprofit, or corporate space.

Preferred Experience:
Experience with enterprise information systems, e.g. CRM

Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills. Excellent adaptability to changing organizational dynamics. Ability to work collaboratively across organizational lines. A desire to continually advance change and improvement. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Exceptional project management skills.
