The Senior Instructional Technologist collaborates with faculty and technologists to create and/or use educational media and technology projects to support the educational goals of the faculty, department, school, site, and University. The individual in this role may mentor contractors, consultants, and student workers on the departmental processes as needed and assigned. They collaborate with internal instructional technologists on project assignments and contribute to the emerging processes of the department. They may also coordinate services with other NYU instructional support units.
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field around education and technology and at least 5 years of related professional work experience, or a Master’s degree in a related field with at least 3 years of professional work experience or equivalent.
5+ years experience in managing, designing, developing and delivering various kinds of effective educational media and technology projects within budget and on schedule. Experience creating and managing workflow processes for educational media and technology projects. Experience applying educational design principles to various visual and media elements. Experience working on a variety of projects simultaneously.
University-level teaching and professional experience in educational technology. Experience in cultivating digital communities.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Demonstrated effectiveness in managing, designing, developing, and delivering educational media and technology projects. Knowledge of the use of course management systems. Ability to convey the affordances of technology in education.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of assessment theories and strategies as well as the ways in which they have been implemented with technology in education; knowledge of the computer game industry from a technical, theoretical, and educational perspective.
