Under the direction of the Director, Sustainability, this role will be an integral part of a best-in-class, comprehensive sustainability program and team that will oversee the strategy, content, management, and direction of various energy conservation measures/projects and outreach initiatives in support of NYU sustainability goals. Areas of focus include energy/climate, water, waste, purchasing, built environment, food, water, transportation, social/cultural, landscaping, and innovation as focus areas and associated goals. Create metrics, compile data, manage/create databases, and provide submissions to various regulatory and funding/rebate organizations. To ensure recommended strategies and initiatives are implemented consistent with University and Operations objectives, priorities, and budgets, communicate with and interact with clients, customers, and stakeholders such as Facilities Management, Technical Services, Construction Management, the Office of Student Affairs, Dining Services, Faculty Housing, and the Budget Office. Support the Director with communications and outreach strategies as needed.
Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Civil, Environmental or Mechanical Engineering, Sustainability, or equivalent.
Master's degree, engineering degree, LEED AP, or LEED GA. Certified energy manager and/or professional engineer.
Five years of related experience in a large corporate or not-for-profit setting.
Five-to-seven years of energy/building systems project management experience. Experience with life cycle costing, data collection and analysis, managing energy efficiency projects, and assessing their technical impacts and payback on the investment.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent written, communication, and presentation skills; demonstrated history of problem solving and initiative; strong interpersonal skills; ability to multitask with strong analytical skills. Ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team. Fluent in MS Office and MS Project, with an understanding and working knowledge of databases.
