Position Summary

Analyze class scheduling and classroom utilization by collaborating with University stakeholders to design and provide decision support for initiatives in support of NYU’s mission. Utilize multiple data sources to design and develop statistical models intended to analyze past data and to predict future enrollment and classroom utilization. Provide new and routine analysis of both data sets and operations to ensure department goals are being met. Design, prepare, communicate, and present analyses to stakeholders. This position is considered a Registrar Subject Matter Expert in registration and scheduling functions and is expected to recommend continual improvements to operations and to provide functional support.


Required Education:
Bachelor's degree

Preferred Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or other quantitative discipline.

Required Experience:
At least one year experience with data collection, retrieval, analysis, predictive modeling, and reporting in an applied context.

Preferred Experience:
Two or more years’ experience with data analysis/predictive modeling. Experience using business intelligence tools (Tableau or equivalent). Experience using ERPs or student information systems (PeopleSoft Campus Solutions or equivalent). Experience using scheduling tools (CollegeNet's 25Live or equivalent).

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent analytical and written/verbal communication skills. Excellent listening and observation skills. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities under hard deadlines while maintaining a high level of professionalism and exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Advanced knowledge of standard office software packages (e.g. MS Office). Advanced knowledge of databases and data management with proficiency in ad hoc reporting/query writing (with SQL, Brio, UDW+, etc.) and manipulating data. Ability to interact with all levels of personnel. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem solving skills. Proven ability to make presentations in small and large groups. Ability to evaluate and implement technological improvements to meet best practices. Ability and willingness to quickly learn new systems and software. Ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy when dealing with difficult issues and/or diverse organizations. Ability to develop positive and cooperative relationships with students, faculty, staff, parents, professional colleagues, and the public.
