Position Summary

New York University’s Counseling and Wellness Services is seeking to hire a per diem clinical psychologist experienced working with student athletes. The ideal candidates are mission-focused; thrive in a fast-paced setting; are flexible with their time, work locations, and ability to provide coverage while working within an interdisciplinary team; proactive; creative in problem-solving approaches; quality focused; and see the provision of services to diverse student populations as part of their career goals.

 

Position Responsibilities:

Providing clinical assessments, short-term psychotherapy, and group therapy to a diverse student population with a focus on student athletes

Offer mental health interventions in the form of talk therapy that go beyond specific performance issues

Provide consultation to faculty and staff regarding student's counseling needs

Plan and conduct workshops and other outreach activities for various university groups

Participate in training and professional development activities

Provide crisis assessment and intervention services

Practice in accordance with appropriate legal and ethical standards.

 

Responsibilities will also include assessing suicidal concerns and when appropriate, arranging for hospitalization, assessing severity of presenting problems, formulating treatment plans, and providing appropriate psychotherapeutic interventions which may include referral for long-term treatment.

Qualifications

Required Education:

PhD or PsyD in clinical psychology.  

 

Required Qualifications:

At least three-years of clinical experience required.

Experience working with student athletes required.

Demonstrated cultural sensitivity.

Experience working with diverse student populations.

NY State license or eligibility.
