Position Summary

The Kitchen and Hospitality Assistant supports the Institute for the Study of the Ancient World (ISAW) during the academic year (September–June). In this role, the assistant will help with daily lunch and beverage service, prepare food for the Chef, and maintain the kitchens and pantries through basic cleaning, organizational, and food preparation tasks. The position requires a consistent daily schedule and clear communication with ISAW administrative and building staff regarding day-to-day operations.

Qualifications

Required Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent

Required Experience:
2+ years of relevant experience in food preparation and/or hospitality.

Preferred Experience:
2+ years Experience with food preparation in educational environment preferred.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Exceptional organizational and time management skills with regards to required duties. Ability to perform required physical tasks. Familiarity with basic kitchen appliances, including coffee makers and dishwashers. Must be able to communicate effectively but with collegiality about task status and problem areas. Capable of maintaining consistent job performance and flexibility and ingenuity to communicate and perform despite obstacles in day-to-day operations. Food Handler's Permit.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of food safety and preparation.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate salary range for this position is USD $27.904 to USD $37.904. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
