Position Summary

SHIFT: Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 4:30PM

 

Perform installations, modifications, maintenance, repairs for the University plumbling system and equipment utilized in buildings, facilities and machinery of the University.

Qualifications

Required Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent

Required Experience:
3+ years hands-on commercial, industrial and residential plumbing work experience under a licensed master plumber required.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of a Maintenance Management Work Order System such as Maximus. Sound, independent judgement and problem-solving skills. Good people skills. Substantial skills in maintenance and repair procedures including preventive maintenance, breakdown repair and trouble shooting. Ability to work effectively in a service oriented environment subject to frequently changing priorities.Ability to troubleshoot plumbing systems. Good communication skills and ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Must be flexible to work varied schedules/shifts as required.Ability to lift large, heavy items (up to 50lbs), stand, bend, and stoop for long periods, and climb a ladder

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of University Purchasing System. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings and specifications. Thorough knowledge of applicable codes and regulations as well as Departmental and University policies, procedures and practices required to carry responsibilities.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is USD $51.154. This rate is based on bargaining unit contracts. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.

Candidates being considered for this role will also perform duties within the University Vivarium laboratories (as defined by NYU’s Research and Laboratory Safety (RLS) Department) and will be required to comply with additional health and vaccination requirements.  The successful candidate will receive an additional premium pay rate pursuant to the Local 810 collective bargaining agreement
