Position Summary

Within the Office of Financial Aid (OFA), the financial aid counseling team is dedicated to providing outstanding service to students, families, and community members on our New York campus via phone, email, virtual and in-person meetings. The Assistant Director, Financial Aid Counseling will serve a critical role in the day-to-day management of the financial aid counseling team. Mentor, manage, and provide day-to-day oversight of a team of financial aid counselors, ensuring NYU students and families receive the highest level of expertise, sensitivity, and problem solving during each interaction with OFA. Advise prospective and admitted students, parents, and currently enrolled students on a broad range of issues pertaining to the financial aid application process, University financial aid policies and procedures, and assist with resolving problems. Serve as an OFA liaison and primary school contact with one or more NYU schools or programs. Monitor, support, and contribute to a team that ensures compliance with all Title IV and institutional policies and procedures. Consult with various University offices (Admissions, Registrar, Bursar) to solve individual student issues and to understand, develop, or improve financial aid processing.

Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree and

Required Experience:
3+ years relevant professional level experience in financial aid, student affairs, or closely related experience.

Preferred Experience:
3+ years experience with a Financial Aid Management System or Student Information System (such as PeopleSoft, Banner, PowerFAIDS, etc)

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Familiarity with financial aid management systems. Knowledge of institutional financial aid need analysis and federal/state financial aid programs. Ability to interpret and apply complex laws, policies and procedures. Ability to interpret and apply complex laws, policies and procedures. Familiarity with spreadsheet and database software applications.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Experience with Institutional Methodology need analysis (IM), and federal/state financial aid programs

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $75,000.00 to USD $95,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
